    Our Bible

    we also made a notebook with all of our goals/guidelines:
    -keep food journal/exercise log
    -exercise 3-4x/wk
    -plan weekly meals
    -drink h20-dont waste calories by drinking them
    -skip an appetizer/bread basket while eating out
    -no eating past 8:30pm
     
    in this notebook we record our food for the day and what exercise we've done....its easier then logging on-line every time we eat and we leave the notebook outon our coffee table so it;s a constant reminder! We also make healthy lists of dinner ideas and plan what we want before we go shopping for the week...this has worked really well...and saved us money too!!!

    end of week 1

    Week 1 went OK....first thing we did was make a weekly menu of meals...therefore when we went to the super market we wouldnt buy too much of nothing that would go bad anyway. We love cooking so this was really fun to do. We didn't buy any snack foods either (aka chips, ice cream, etc.) intstead we bought more fruit and veggies (can't say we've eaten it all...but more then usual!!!) thats a start right? I also was able to drag justin out on some walks!!! Its hard getting outside in the cold...but we've had a heat wave in the northeast this week which we used to our advantage! No gym time this week (tear) The gym we signed up for (planet Fitness) hasn't opened yet....it is scheduled to open mid-january. It's been a slow start, but we made some big changes  to our diet habits....i mean its not cake being a college student and living around here because the food is sooooo good!! Talk about the best wingss, chinese, and calzones! But we are steering clear!!! And when we did eat out we went to a japenese restaurant and had a nice healthy chicken and vegetable hibachi dinner with tofu!!!! My first time having tofu.....wasn't too bad either!!! Well we are still aiming to achieve this dream...we have high hopes and a long road ahead of us!!! ~one love

    Day 1

    Myself (Meaghan)and my boyfriend, Justin, have made a new years resolution to get in shape and lose weight. We currently live in Amherst, MA....I am a nursing student graduating in May '08 and he already graduated, but now works as a cook at a local cafe. My weight loss goal is to lose 60 pounds and his is to lose 80 pounds and be under 200 pounds. College has really gotten the best of me and my weight has suffered. He has recetly been diagnosed with diabetes and hopefully by losing the weight will help his condition. Together hopefully we can do it and change our lifestyles to include more exercising and activity.
     
    We have been talking ever since he was diagnosed in Fall '07 that we need to eat healthier and work out, but haven't really done anything about it. I bought us gym memberships and we are going to start going to the gym at least 3-4 times a week. We both love being active, but just stopped engaging in the activities we love. I grew up playing soccer and basketball my whole life and played Div. 1 college rugby and different intramural sports from dodgeball, badmitten, basketball and softball. He loves kung fu and martial arts, volleyball, and football. We entered the contest to see if we could really do this and I hope this isn't all talk, because losing the weight would be amazing. We plan to succeed by going to the gym, cooking healthy meals and not eating out all the time! Hopefully we have the motivation to kick our own @$$es and man up to win this thing! I know we have the potential, just hope we stick with it!!!!!
